World Leaders Meet for COP26
The 26th annual climate change conference, or ‘COP26’ took place in Glasgow recently, which saw over 100 world leaders meet to address the climate crisis and ultimately reach an agreement on how best to tackle climate change.
Prime Minister, Boris Johnston, was amongst those in attendance, having announced the ‘Net Zero Strategy’ just one week previously, which aims to transition the UK to a green and sustainable future by encouraging consumers and businesses to move to clean, sustainable power and reduce reliance on fossil fuels.
The Challenges Faced
Climate change has become increasingly prevalent in the last 26 years, since the COP talks officially began, as the effects of climate change are rapidly visible, as observed in the slew of natural disasters such as tsunamis, earthquakes, forest fires, and rising global temperatures that have struck the planet of late.
Experts confirm that there is a direct link between these disasters and global carbon emissions, which makes it an imperative to act fast to work together to reduce our carbon footprints, collectively and individually.
